April is Autism Awareness Month. Every year, AutismOklahoma.org hosts the PieceWalk & 5K. This is the largest single autism awareness event held in Oklahoma. This year’s walk/run is on May 4 at the Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. This is a day of joy and celebration for all who love someone with autism. It includes a Resource Fair filled with vendors providing information, samples and fun.
As many of you may remember, the AutismOklahoma PieceWalk & 5k holds a special place in our very own Kerry Lingerfelt Blackburn's heart. Her son, JJ, is a highly functioning autistic 10 year old boy. Every year, Kerry and JJ participate in the PieceWalk. Of course JJ loves superheroes and it is only fitting that his team name is Captain JJ and the Autism Avengers!

Mark your calendars! Avansic’s free 10th Annual End-of-Year CLE will be at the end of November this year. This CLE is free, but registration is required.
The Tulsa event will be on Wednesday, November 28th at the First Place Tower (15 E Fifth St.) on the 41st Floor. The OKC event will be on Thursday, November 29th at the Devon Building, 2nd floor, Garden Wing. Both events begin at 8:30 AM and end at 12:30.

In accordance with the COALA Bylaws, as amended January 28, 2016, the Officer Positions listed below will be elected by the members of the Association at the Business Meeting on November 9, 2018. All votes cast will be tallied and the election results will be announced at the Business Meeting.
The Positions to be voted upon are:
A term year runs from the beginning of the first day of the calendar year following such election to the end of the calendar year, or until successors are elected. An officer is eligible to serve no more than two (2) consecutive terms in the same office. Officers annotated with an asterisk above are ineligible to serve in their current position, unless no successor is nominated or elected to the office.
Any Active Member of the Association who wishes to declare himself or herself as a candidate for an officer position, can do so by notifying COALA Secretary, Barbara Urtz, in advance of the Business Meeting or at the Business Meeting on November 9, 2018. If there are any contested positions, Active Members in attendance at the meeting will be asked to cast their votes at the meeting and Active Members who are unable to attend the meeting in person will be given an opportunity to vote by Proxy.
