Needing Volunteers for Positive Tomorrows Birthday Party

Good afternoon COALA Members,

You were previously provided with information about volunteering to sponsor a birthday party for a child attending Positive Tomorrows. We have been notified that there is a birthday party set for this Friday at 2pm and the school is in need of volunteers to sponsor this party. We have a few members that have already expressed interest in volunteering, but we are looking for 2-3 more people that would be interested in helping. Here are some details about the party:

When: Friday, October 5th from 1:30pm – 2:30pm

Where: Positive Tomorrows School Cafeteria

Who: A Spiderman loving kindergarten student

If you would like to celebrate with us and this child on Friday please let us know ASAP and we will provide you with some additional information.

Volunteer Opportunity ~ COALA In The Community

COALA would like to provide you with another great volunteer opportunity in our community! The Oklahoma County Bar Association has organized a reading program called Lawyers for Learning. Volunteers of this program act as “reading buddies” for elementary school students in OKC Public Schools. This is an opportunity to read with a child who may be behind in reading and/or coming from a home where English is their second language and to help them advance their reading skills in a one-on-one setting.

Each reading session lasts approximately one hour and takes place at the school. You have the option of reading as little or as much as you like – weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, or anywhere in between. These students are at a pivotal point in their education as they prepare to qualify for promotion to the 4th grade.

Please contact Kasi O’Brien - kasi.obrien@crowedunlevy.com - if you would like more information or would like to sign up.
